My Comment Page

February 5, 2008.

I have just finished reading 2nd Chronicles in the Holy Bible again. As I was reading all the chapters in this book, I was struck by the thought of how mankind tends to try to impose it's will upon God, rather than trying to obey the will of God.

Throughout the Old Testament the chosen people of God were awesome in power as long as they did what was commanded by God. As soon as they decided to do things on their own, without regard to what God has commanded they became a disaster. A disaster to themselves and the laughing stock to everyone else.

Now maybe I am just to simple. But, it seems to me that if God is blessing you in the wilderness of this world. You ought to gladly submit to him and learn more of His ways and stick to them.

The trouble then and now in the world of today, is mankind' desire to impose it's will on God rather than the other way around. We in this country are a very blessed people. We say we are a Christian society and we have numerous government buildings with all kinds of Christian symbols on them. Yet, we seem to take great pleasure in doing things which are decidedly non-Christian.

With all of our riches, we do not adequately take care of our senior citizens. We do not adequately fund elementary through high school education and furthermore, the funding which is done is not accurately accounted for.

Take a lesson from the Old Testament. God is not pleased with what we are doing and we can not impose our will upon Him to make Him pleased with our mess.
